JOHN STRAWBRIDGE has over twenty years’ experience in Communications, Film & TV, Theatre and adult education. He is the Creative Director of Campanile Media, and has been the Artistic Director of Actors Company Theatre, a consultant for Gender Strategy (gender communications tools for the corporate workplace), an elections judge for the state of MD, and a Consulting Artistic Director for the Education & Entertainment Foundation [501(c)3].
His first book; “The Audition Book: What Casting Directors Are Really Looking For” is available on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and others.
John is currently engaged in a number of volunteer activities:
- Communications Coordinator for The Strawbridge Shrine [501(c)(3)], a historic site dedicated to the work of an ancestor of John’s
- Vice-president & Development Chair for the United Methodist Historical Society of the Baltimore-Washington Conference
As an Associate Casting Director, his resume includes “The Wire”, “HOMICIDE: Life on the Street”, Wedding Crashers, Superman Returns, and many other features, TV shows and Pilots for HBO, NBC, ABC, Fox, Warner Bros., Universal, Disney, etc.
He has taught classes in the business of Acting throughout the region for organizations such as The SAG Conservatory (DC), The Actors’ Center (DC), The Smithsonian Associates, Women in Film and Video (MD), ITVA, Actors Company Theatre, LTA (VA), Stevenson University, Towson University, Howard Community College, Baltimore Co. Community College, UMBC, and Film in the City (NY).
John is a recipient of the Actors' Center 2001 Theatre Distinction Award. He has received two Best Director nominations for his stage work in VA, and several Honorable Mentions for his screenplays. His casting work has been nominated three times for Emmys™ and other industry awards.
